Algiers Point - safety

A family member is getting married in New Orleans this spring. We're looking at renting a home for 5 nights in Algiers Point. Any safety issues or reasons to be concerned with the neighborhood? Should we just opt for a hotel instead? I've spent many nights at Crown and Anchor and Old Point, but it's been about 15 years...

You won’t have any problems. Stay on the point side of Opelousas Ave.

Algiers Point is fine, just stay on the river/point side of Opelousas

Closer you are to the point the better. I wouldn’t go south of Newton St or east of Atlantic Ave

It ain’t the point. It’s getting to the point.

I was at a wedding in Algiers point last weekend. Very underrated area that is coming along.
Like most things in New Orleans just stay aware of your surroundings.

Algiers Point itself is safe. It's what you have to drive through to get to the Point which is not.

Got a buddy in the point. Safe area. But there are a lot of Air BnB and VRBO's across Opelousas in the straight ghetto. DO not stay in those. They're nice too, you would not know from the pics that you may get shot on the front porch.

Great bar. I'm also a fan of the Crown & Anchor.

Oh to be young and stupid again.
Prayers sent. Make sure you revisit this thread to let us know how many of the party's car windows got busted, if any of them got stabbed or shot, and finally - how long it took NOPD to show up to whatever problem some of you found yourselves in.

It’s a lose/lose situation for you I’m afraid
You could always stay in BR and….. wait, Nevermind. That’s not any better

Possibly worse. There's always that. Flip a coin.
