That's not at all how BR works, dude. He could emerge from BR paying far less than that.

It’s likely based off revenue figures for his show and the products he hawks.

Alex Jones has made a lot of money over the past 10 years, at least in part, because of his sandy hook “coverage” and opinions.

his net worth is supposedly 250 million at most. a judgment worth 4x the defendants net worth is astronomical. He will be paying this debt the rest of his life. Its only harder for him now that just about every social media platform has banned him.

I'm not taking pity on Jones. He dug his own grave. I'm just shocked and concerned a court would award that much considering his income and net worth. Its essentially a financial death penalty.

Do you really think Alex Jones for shite talking parents of dead kids should have to pay over 30 times the amount than OJ murdering his divorced wife and her lover in cold blood in front of the house where his own children were sleeping? You don't have to like Alex Jones or defend any of his positions to know that is fricking insane.

I am saying he could emerge from BR paying far less than the $15 million he is worth. That is net worth, not liquidity. They will not make him liquidate his estate which is I bet where a ton of his NW is tied up.

Always looked at Alex jones as an entertainer and 5% of this shite he speaks on has validity. So I do find a billion dollar judgement is odd.

"First they(the victims of targeted defamation) came for the profiteer of those slanders and lies, and I said nothing, because."...he admitted it under oath and that's how a functioning democracy and court system works

First they came for the guy who slandered the families of murdered children

And people said, “Yeah, that sounds about right.”

Then we all had a beer and celebrated the fact that we aren’t that guy.

Over the past 9 years or whatever, how much revenue do you think jones received due at least in part to his SH takes?

This will likely be reduced on appeal.

first, I was responding to a post that said if they were awarded $15 million instead of a billion, they would get paid, but since it is such a large award they now won’t get paid. That poster used bankruptcy as the reason. That isn’t how bankruptcy works.

Additionally, these judgments are also against his companies, not just him personally. He won’t be able to use bankruptcy to avoid the judgments entirely and most likely will be required to liquidate significant assets to satisfy creditors if he tries bankruptcy.

The victims will not get zero now, but would have gotten $15 million otherwise with a smaller award as was suggested.

So pharmaceutical companies can cause actual harm and death by misleading and pay 2.3 billion. Alex Jones can just lie and hurt feelings and pays $1 billion?

Yeah, the Sacklers have only paid 2.3 times the amount that Alex is being ordered to pay here. The Sacklers have ruined millions of lives and led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Did Alex shite talking a bunch of grieving parents do anywhere near what the Sacklers have done? The Sacklers should be given the Romanov treatment, the difference is no one will mourn any of their deaths.

I would not appeal it if I were him. Straight to the bankruptcy court.

I dont think you even need an appeal

Connecticut caps punitive damages to just legal fees and in rare cases two times compensatory

In other words

This is for the headlines

Who fricking cares? You limpdicks continue to miss the point entirely because you’re too busy cheering the destruction of someone you disagree with like the mouth breathers you all are.
