If he dropped it through an air vent, he should be able to retrieve it through the same air vent and some fishing tools and creativity

The fact that he was using a clock tied to a string to find where to make the hole was his first problem.

They also should have to disclose this if they ever try and sell that house.

Here's what I don't get, if he dropped it down the vent, shouldn't it be sitting at the bottom of the duct by the other vent cover?
It wouldn't be in the wall. It would be in the air duct. All he has to do is unscrew the vent cover on the lower level.
