Here's what I don't get, if he dropped it down the vent, shouldn't it be sitting at the bottom of the duct by the other vent cover? It wouldn't be in the wall. It would be in the air duct. All he has to do is unscrew the vent cover on the lower level.
Winner!

No way a woman would deal with that.

I disagree with that. Listening to Loveline, it's the women and only the women who would put up with this. I was shocked it was a man that put up with this: LINK

Most of this doesn't even make sense

I'd go so far as to say that none of this makes sense. No way in hell would any man put up with that for 13 years, nor would the battery last that long. It's impossible.

Sounds fake as hell.

I might have done some dumb shite like this as a teenager back before I knew anything about anything, But damn, I would have asked some'damn'body and found out what to do though.

I somehow imagine this guy was going to make his cable outlet hole a small coax sized circle chizled out with a kitchen or pocket knife.

Sometimes on TV, I hear the same tone as my alarm clock and it makes my skin crawl. I would use a sledgehammer to get that thing out of the wall

Using a sledgehammer wouldn't be the brightest move either.

I have never had an alarm clock that rang for a while and then shut itself off till the next alarm time.

Most govt workers I know would blow a hole in the wall.

Then wait 4-6 months for contractors to bid on fixing it, only to overpay for it by a minimum of 150% above costs.
