You're a soccer fan. You aren't allowed to have an opinion on country music

Always felt his music was milquetoast. Just a bunch of very simple songs with zero depth. Mercury? Little Bitty? His entire catalog is meh.
You realize Mercury Blues is a cover right? He didn’t write it.
His hits collection stacks up with the best and has stood the test of time. He’s a legend. Saw him in Austin and while you can tell his health is deteriorated he still sounded good

Literally just listened to that. Incredible cover.
As huge a fan of country music as I am I’m embarrassed that I didn’t know that was a cover of a Hank Jr song. And I’ve seen Hank in concert. Swear I’ve never heard him sing that

Jackson is a gem and a legend in that class of 88-89 of Garth, Alan, Clint, Randy, etc.
That was a great time and IIRC the first time country crossed over into mainstream. Say what you will about where it went from there…..but these were some great artists.

Hank Jr’s version is great too. Alan just has this thing in his voice that makes it so much better, like you can feel the emotion. Always has that thing in his voice tho.

Make songs out of simple shite very entertaining that will stand the test of time. I wish more “country” artists these days made songs like Alan did
I just wish country would go back to that steel guitar twang and lyrics with either deep meaning or tells a story.
Modern country is terrible. It’s like a bunch of city boys sing what they think country music should be and it ends up over the top stereotypes with shitty pop sound and electronically altered voices because they don’t have a natural country accent

It’s always everyone’s last concert … until the next one

Modern day country song: “truck truck beer beer bonfire tailgates, girls beer truck truck whiskey tailgate beer girls!”

Saw him on my birthday in Nashville in 2015. First show of his 25 year Anniversary Tour. Jeff Foxworthy came out and did his comedy thing beforehand. It was a great show.

Blues Man and All in Alabama are my 2 favorite Hank Jr. songs. AJ's cover is great as well

The class of '89 (Alan, Garth, Travis Tritt, Clint Black, Doug Stone) is the greatest in the history of the genre. 4 HoF'ers and the 5th guy in Stone had a solid career in his own right.
ETA: three of those guys(AJ, Tritt, Stone) are Georgia boys.

You mean mainstream Nashville country?
There’s tons of great music being put out currently. You aren’t getting it on 100.7 the tiger or whatever mainstream radio station. I’d suggest branching out.

You can still find that. Country is blended across genres. You don’t HAVE to listen to hits country radio

Alan Jackson is one of the few country artist I would pay to see. Great one.

So is Little Bitty, really. It is a Tom T Hall tune that he also released-- and Hall's version is still better.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere with Jimmy Buffet has to be one of the better collaborations and they did it great. I know, they didn't write the song, but Alan grabbed the song after others, like Kenny Chesney, passed on it, so he has to get some credit for the concept and the execution for a song that has made it into the vocabulary of many people

don’t think the Stones have done that, almost everyone else has though
Yeah, Mick and Keith will do everything they can to drop dead on stage. Think there were four guitarists at times on the stage at Atlanta last summer, though I know there were three just about all the time.

Alan Jackson is the real King of country! Hopefully he keeps making music and comes out of retirement for one last round!
