BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Alabama Public Television has chosen not to air an episode of the PBS children's show "Arthur" because it included a same-sex wedding.

quote:

The episode "Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone" aired nationally on May 13, showing Arthur attending the wedding of his teacher and partner.

APT showed a re-run instead.

AL.com reports that APT director of programming Mike Mckenzie defended the decision by saying parents trust that their children can watch the station without supervision.

The station had previously pulled an episode of "Arthur" in 2005 when a character had two mothers.

Does anyone know how many normal weddings have been a subject of an episode?

Alabama the poster child of incest probably shouldn't be getting offended over weddings

Until last week, I didn't even know this show was still airing.

Good. No reason for an agenda to be pushed on a child through an educational show.

Libs don’t like it when someone doesn’t promote their narrative.

Anybody who is placated by their decision is a giant pussy.

Why should kids be afraid of gay marriage?

It's a wedding for fricka sake. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's an agenda.

Arthur has had Christmas episodes you going to call that pushing an agenda to because that would make more sense

Showing a man marrying a man (albeit rat creature) on a children's show sure is and completely unnecessary.

While I'm OK with gumps making this decision, I kind of think that anyone who would be pushed to explore homosexuality as a result of seeing a cartoon aardvark marriage might already be gay.

Translation I don't like it therefore I'm promoting censorship. Republicans love them some censorship when it fits their agenda
