Stop being so fricking dramatic. In most rape cases, God forbid, you could still take the plan B pill to stop conception before it happens.

What is people's obsessions with killing babies. Why is that a hill that so many are willing to die on. I don't understand.

Also, let's say this goes to the Supreme Court and the court sides with Alabama. Are you saying they'll then retroactively repeal the rape and incest portions?

The intent of the bill is to overturn RvW by defining "personhood." Thus allowing the individual states to set laws and limits on legally acceptable execution. In Alabama rape and incest will likely be legal justifications, even though I disagree with that line of thought.

Nah, frick you and anyone else who thinks it is ok to use rape victims as cannon fodder for political agenda.

Truly abhorrent.

I'm all for states rights and abortions should be banned after a certain point. These bills are getting ridiculous though. GA has a law now banning them after 6 weeks.

They're ridiculous because they're specifically designed to challenge Roe v. Wade.

Yes, it is specifically designed to challenge Roe v. Wade in the way that Roe v. Wade protects the rights of victims of rape and incest to have an abortion and not have to disclose the reason for their abortion. Because it's none of the government's business. Your assertion that most pro life people don't support the idea of forcing victims of rape to have the product of their rape is demonstrably false by the effect of the very law that you are defending. This is explicitly about forcing victims of rape and incest to have those pregnancies and making it more difficult for pregnant women to make decisions about their health by taking the power to make those decisions out of their hands and the hands of their doctors and putting it into the hands of the government and politicians.

It's about respecting someone's right to life. Which is more important than your right to health.

If you are raped and are not on contraception, there are pills you can take that can prevent conception. Stop using this excuse because it’s not a valid one. Nobody is advocating for victims of rape to carry an unborn fetus to term. Rape and incest are horrible, but you don’t have to have an abortion, you can terminate any chance of conception with a plan B pill. There, now stop using that as an excuse an open up a real meaningful dialogue.

Only because he thinks it won't survive a legal challenge.

If this bill doesn't include an exemption for victims of rape, then I'd say that every person who voted yes is advocating for victims of rape to carry and give birth to a rape baby.

Southern religious people are great for some things, but having a “meaningful discussion” about abortion is most definitely not one of them.

I'm sure after such a traumatic event, the first thing on the girl's mind is to get to the CVS for a morning after pill.

How can you when people are using one terrible thing as an excuse to do another terrible thing? Especially considering that it’s been brought up multiple times that rape victims, or anyone else, can buy a pill that stops conception literally 24/7 at Walgreens. Rape and incest are always the number 1 thing pro choice people bring up yet the overwhelming majority of abortions are done out of convenience. If you believe that life starts at 6 weeks or 12 weeks, whatever, then state that. Don’t use the horrible act of rape as some sort of sick arse litmus test to make it seem like pro life people are the morally bankrupt ones.

You can always carry it to term if you’d prefer that. Or how about wait weeks and have an unnecessary abortion. Sounds much better.
