I think it's logical to assume that the person exiting the vehicle startled a potentially poorly-trained officer.
quote:So you are basing EVERYTHING on an officer scared of a person leaving a car?
I think it's then logical that the startled officer acted like a startled person who felt threatened and used force to counter what he perceived as threatening.

So why did he shoot the man?

based off of this gif...nothing suggest that the person exiting the vehicle startled a potentially poorly-trained officer.

who felt threatened
nothing suggest that the person exiting the vehicle threatened the officer

So why did he shoot the man?

Do you think it would have been less threatening for him to stay in the vehicle, or was this the best move for the victim?

Maybe he's poorly trained? Maybe he felt like killing someone that night? Either way, he was wrong.

Holy frick......
That's why I tell my kids all the time, "cops are not your friend". They are people with guns that can shoot you at any point and claim they were scared for their lives.

Do you think it's more logical to assume that he was poorly-trained and wrongly felt threatened, or that he simply felt like shooting a man that day?

the officer had his gun drawn before the man even opened the door

Ok, then tell me why he shot him.

Why? Does it matter? It was wrong and the fact you are trying to put any of the blame of the dude who got shot is just idiotic at best.

With that knowledge, do you think it would have been smarter for victim to stay in the vehicle?

Why would he feel threatened at a fricking fender bender? I don't wait for the cop to ask me to get out if I'm at the site of a traffic accident
being an idiot isn't a defense

The trooper also completely neglected the truck drivers safety as well.

It does actually. It's the most important aspect of the case.
Why did she shoot the man?

See I think you're kinda missing the point here- the kid was never detained. This was an accident not a traffic stop.
I am not sure he was obligated to follow any commands as there was no lawful detainment.

These are cops, not members of the CIA or some secret gov't entity. Any and all dashcam video and bodycam video should be made available to the public instantly. That's the price you pay for the superpower of being able to shoot people and pets without repercussion.

of course it matters. If the cop shot him without cause he would be a fricking psycho...if he made a mistake he is just a bad cop that shouldn't have a weapon.
