quote:we did and yes the mother was going to bring to a shelter of we didnt take him...we originally sat on the situation for a week and when they asked us again, we accepted. It was actually mid March. We fixed his flee infestation, he had an eye infection, got him a rabies shot, you could see his ribs because he wasnt being fed like normal and he had a limp form probably being kicked and a wound on his chest and even has separation anxiety from this moving him around previously. I cant even bring him for a ride, he cries and thinks im gonna drop him off some where like she has probably done several times before us even. He no longer has to worry about moving again. My other Jack Russell/pit mix(she is 6 yrs old) is his best pal and they live in my house and doggie door in/out to the fenced in large back yard area. When I took him for good, I got all of that fixed above in one day. Even ran full blood panel 6 weeks ago to make sure he was good. We have groomed him like 4 times over 6 months. I had a 14 yr old just like him that passed 2 yrs ago. He is my boy now.

Then a discussion was had about he homing the dog so we took him in April. The woman was going thru serious mental and financial hardships etc.
Sounds like she surrendered the dog when this happened.
Called the sheriff's and da's office. The da said she cant do anything except try for civil court but the judge will easily side with us given the situation. The DA said to block her number that she really cant do anything. Bitch called us 12 times last night, then all day today disappeared. Tbh honest if I knew she would care for him right, with a heavy heart id give him back but she is not. She is a drug user, mentally ill, her mother has disowned her etc. The condition of the dog when we got him was bad. Reflection of her.

Bro, don’t shoot this woman over some damned dog.
He’s not your little boy, he’s a good dog, like any dog that is well taken care of.

I’m assuming you don’t have a son. People that say this usually don’t.

If she's willing to reimburse you for care you given in the last 5 months, you can consider it. Otherwise, no. Possession is 9/10 of the law.

mental wreck. Was told she was giving him up to us permanently in April. Smdh
If you gave it documented, this is just noise.
If not, maybe a little spicier but still probably would be able to display you’ve been caring for it as your own as some proof of verbal conversation about the ownership

I went thru this exact scenario with my ex years and years ago. I paid all of the dogs bills/vet bills. She tried to get a lawyer involved and both attorneys said there wasn't anything she could do. Since you've shown consistent care, custody, and expense that dog is yours bud. The court looks at who is primarily responsible for the pets wellbeing, and if you are footing the bills/food/care, its yours.

What kind of dog? It's a Pit isn't it
Also he doesn't bite people for incase anyone was wondering, he has evidently been thru alot with her in the past and clearly their was neglect and some abuse added with separation anxiety she created and such. He just barks when I get a hug from my wife or tries to get in-between me and someone else who is near me. He doesn't like it when my other dog gets attention more than him, we are working on that behavior. The longer he lives with us the more chill he will become. He is a work in progress but he is not a danger to anyone other than being excited to meet people. He is a super intelligent dog. He knows his life has been significantly upgraded. He knows i provided this life for him and has bonded with me. He literally tries to talk to me. Sounds like scooby doo alot.

She’s had serious mental and financial issues and you’re worried about her actually hiring an attorney? Do any of you actually think before posting stupid shite?
This thread was over but I saw this stupid reply and had to absolutely put you back into your lane.

Sounds like she owes you 2k if she wants the dog back, kindly let her know that if she files suit, you will file a counter suit.
Realistically, this is a small claims court issue so her even bringing up lawyer is kind of funny.

Men should stop asking if they are the a-hole. Of course we are, but everyone needs an a-hole so just fill the void and own it.
Keep the dog and tell them to frick off.
