Why is it a slippery slope to let a privately owned, non-publicly traded business operate how they see fit? You don't like it? Don't shop there.

“In 2016 we established the Airbnb Community Commitment reflecting our belief that to make good on our mission of belonging, those who are members of the Airbnb community accept people regardless of their race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age,” Airbnb shared in a statement. “We asked all members of the Airbnb to affirmatively sign on to this commitment.”

So do they ban people that are part of BLM, the Black Panthers or other black supremacy groups?

That is the issue at hand, and these folks could potentially win a discrimination lawsuit if that is the case.

You're right. And if leftists are in favor of private companies being forced to provide their services to all without discrimination, then they should be opposed to this. That's the beautiful irony.

How is it different? Both are about supporting a specific group of people. You can try and twist and say that one is a positive message (often about decadence and just totally trashy/slutty behavior) and the other is about pride in a race and support for those in the race.

In both cases, you can twist words to make it sound positive, but in both cases, groups are looking to prop up one group for special attention.

In the end, the bakers should have been within their rights, but thanks to that decision, AirBnB has no leg to stand on. They discriminated against a group of people and refused to offer them service.

You can't have it both ways.

1. Does AirBNB know that every reservation they cancelled was for someone attending the white supremacist rally? What if they cancelled a reservation for someone who was going back to town for a wedding, vacation, or other personal travel that had nothing to do with the rally?

2. The religious bakers faced huge government fines and were sued for every penny they had. I'm fine with what the bakers did, and I'm fine with what AirBNB is doing. But if the bakers can get sued and lose their business, house, and everything they own...then I'm fine with AirBNB getting sued too. Its not a one way street.

White trash racist to poor to afford a hotel, Typical. I would deny these pos as well. Just like I would deny a group of 20 something year olds to stay at my Airbnb if they were in town for an EDM festival.

As a general rule, I think it's stupid to refuse business - especially for a company like Airbnb that provides a service to both renters and landlords.

But I don't have a problem with them refusing service. I'm just curious as to how they know which renters are white supremacists and which ones are not.

I see no problem with this.

I want Airbnb to be able to refuse service to anyone on any grounds.

I also want every bakery and small business in the US to be able to refuse service to black people, homos, white people, mexicans, jews, etc. The market will work this out on its own. We don't need the government telling people who they have to serve. It's my labor, I'll provide it where and when I see fit.

Member when liberal pretended to care about free speech AND when "conservatives" pretended to be in love with the "free market"?

It's exactly the same, neither break any laws. The actual reason for denying is irrelevant.

I did try it. Your first post reads like you're OK with AirBNB's decision because it's "doing something right."

Your next post says you're OK with the bakery people being labeled as homophobes.

Did I miss anything?

Nah, I comprehended it just fine. The stuff he wrote after explains it better, but was not available when I posted.

Why would you turn away so many people from using your services when there is so much demand for it?

The flier doesn't say anything about "white supremacy." Are these groups actually supremacists or just advocates for white people?
