I'm fine with AirBnb getting sued, just as the baker did. Gotta love you liberals.
Well I sided with the baker soooooo

So...would you be one of those folks who sees nothing wrong with Airbnb refusing service, but also see nothing wrong with a baker being forced to provide a service?

I was fine with it...then it was ruled unconstitutional and that it was discrimination. Why can airbnb discriminate, but cake bakers can't?
Yeah and I disagree with the ruling. But that doesn't change my fundamental belief that it's the business' right to deny service for personal reasons

See the post I quoted, that's what I meant. I see nothing wrong with labeling the cupcake folks homophobes and the Supremacist rally folks racists(and who is going to drag someone through the mud for not wanting to associate with openly racist folks?).

Fair enough. Do you also think the cupcake folks, even if they are homophobes, should have the right to refuse their service just like Airbnb did?

So you are selectively OK with businesses discriminating as they see fit. Nice job, hypocrite.

I love being a hypocrite for calling homophobes a homophobe and calling racists as racist.

I did try it. Your first post reads like you're OK with AirBNB's decision because it's "doing something right."
Your next post says you're OK with the bakery people being labeled as homophobes.
Did I miss anything?

He's talking about the difference in public opinion in these cases that was brought up by someone else. Not legal rights

Why? Why do we need government intervention for a problem the market would correct on its own if it was deemed necessary?

The post I quoted talked about the reactions and dragging homophobes "through the mud" and not dragging folks who don't want racists in their houses "through the mud"
The law should be consistent, if I'm making cupcakes or posting a rental spot on AirBnB, I'd be consistent with the law. My feelings don't have to be consistent. If the general concensus with people are frick homphobes and frick racists, then yes, I think the general concencus is in the right place.

The First Amendment expressly uses the wording of freedom of religion as it pertained to the religiously persecuted that came to America, 200+ years before the Constitution was drafted...
Your notion of the law following culture isn't tremendously applicable.

Not following. I.e.,ThatMakesSense isn't tremendously applicable.
Are you saying that the entire body of First Amendment law is limited to the text of the Amendment and all of the Supreme Court opinions should be disregarded and/or that same are not shaped over time by prevailing sentiments regarding free speech? The people elect the people who appoint and confirm judges and justices, who are educated in our universities and influenced by same, are they not?
Eta: Alito said it well the other day in Slants:
Eta2: I reiterate that this obviously isn't a 1st Am, state-action issue. But my post was in response to someone accusing posters of "defending white supremacists," so I felt inclined to give my usual sermon.

I don't think this raises any real legal issues. The Civil Rights Act disallows discrimination based on race, color, gender, national origin or religion but doesn't say anything about political beliefs. If you seriously wanted to you could forbid red haired people, short people, or Democrats from entering your restaurant.
But then again the Civil Rights Act is being interpreted to disallow discrimination against gays. Even though nothing about gays is remotely mentioned in the statute.

They would be allowed to discrimate against BLM members. At least as long as a court didn't view discrimation against BLM members as a form of discrimination against black people.

I have no problem with them denying people their stays up there...
But...
Don't hide behind this chicken shite statement. If you respect these ideals, then don't actively disrespect someone else's because they don't fall into your line as 'acceptable.'
But...

Exactly. But what's good for the goose is good for the gander. The white supremacists people should be able to sue as well

So what is next? Expedia cancels your reservation when you arrive because you once posted on Facebook that you don't agree in man made global warming?
Where does it end?
