That Lake Maurepas pore space is some of the most valuable in the entire state. Someone is going to buy it - Shell or Exxon would be my guess

I'm sure if they keep calling it a "scheme" that investors will line up to save the project.
In certain dialects of English “scheme” doesn’t have the same negative connotation as Americans associate the word.
I have heard British media use that word interchangeably with plan or government programs.

Also, AP is not in the ammonia business so makes sense to sell of that part which they are doing.
They aren't, but they make Hydrogen which is almost the process of making Ammonia. It goes Methane (strip out Carbon and 2 Hydrogen molecules) and it becomes Hydrogen (H2), then by the Haber Bosch process you install an air separator (since air is 80% nitrogen) it uses extreme cold temps and pressure to turn the nitrogen in air into liquid and separated from other elements, then that nitrogen is injected into the mix, another hydrogen molecule teams up with the mix, and it makes ammonia.
Difference in capex for an ammonia and hydrogen plant would be like $3.7 bil for H2 plant, and $4.5 bil for Ammonia plant.

In English English, the word “scheme” merely means “plan” not a nefarious plan.

And some of the most politically charged right now too…pitch forks, torches and all.
But someone like an Exxon could absorb the outcry. Just don’t think they would have a need to bother when they own the Denbury line and have the spot near Pecan Island that’s received virtually zero public outrage thus far.
