The ability of AI to generate fake visuals is not yet mainstream knowledge, but a new website — ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com — offers a quick and persuasive education. The site is the creation of Philip Wang, a software engineer at Uber, and uses research released last year by chip designer Nvidia to create an endless stream of fake portraits. The algorithm behind it is trained on a huge dataset of real images, then uses a type of neural network known as a generative adversarial network (or GAN) to fabricate new examples.

i think it's awesome. Scary... but awesome. We are all fricked. The media will switch the game and put MAGA hats on NPC's that will do all the crime in the future.

It’s weird but I can tell those people have never existed. I can see it in their eyes. I can tell they have no soul.

In the not so distant future, those pretentious and coddled actors and actresses will have to find real jobs. Think how much money the film studio can save.

The first question to be asked when new technology causes us to ascertain the most likely applications for early adoption never changes.

Edit: Brisket came close. Those who properly answered "How will the porn industry respond?", you may come to the head of the class.

Sometimes I see what looks like a chick in a picture and "I'm like, wait. Is that, is that a guy?" Now I'll be like is that MFer even real.

So they can... draw. Not seeing the big deal here. It’s basically a robotic digital painter.
