I have a small insurance agency and help coach local soccer and high school soccer in GS. Wife teaches at the heathen elementary school in GS.

I've lived in all sorts of areas of the US (Pensacola, DC, BR, Tulsa) and have no plans to leave any time soon.
Great area to raise a family, cheap cost of living, no real crime. Property values increasing every year. Place is booming.

Only concern is the OWA theme park turning into a casino in the next five years.

I would have no problem with that.

He's a cool kid. Nothing "wrong" with him--just has different needs that most schools can't accomodate. Believe me--we never thought when we had kids that my wife would end up quitting her job to stay home and be their teacher. You gotta do what you gotta do though.

So you live in GS now? What neighborhoods do you recommend we check out? Any thoughts on GS vs. OB for family living?

True and I think probably inevitable.

Homeschool then private school that your domineering wife chooses. I feel sorry for your children. Does she also tell them which toys to play with and what activities, if any, they can participate in?

As someone that moved around a lot when I was younger, you'd be a dumbass to move there and not rent for at least a year. Don't freaking buy a house and move into it right away.

It's not a big area between mobile to Pensacola. I know people that live in mobile and work in OB, that live in Pensacola and work in Mobile, etc. So you can live a lot of places. Living there for a year and renting is easily the best idea.

I would love to live down there but only if I could get enough money together to buy a condo directly on the beach. I’m going to get one and retire there. That’s the plan anyway

Actually, yes. It's called parenting. For example, yesterday the activity my seven year old wanted to partcipate in was to jump off a balcony into a swamp to go swimming. We said no. Don't be a dick.

Don’t listen to these guys. They seem like jerks. From what I’ve seen here, this board is nothing but jerks. Nothing wrong with homeschooling.

You feel sorry for children who have parents that collaboratively make the best decision for them, based on their individual needs?

I live in Gulf Shores and love it. Sure tourist season is a little hectic but it all evens out when I get 6 months of beautiful beaches to myself. Came here 7 years ago with nothing but my bedroom set. Now mamanage a large business and currently own my own business in Ft Morgan. Looking to buy property and build a house now. The market is on the upswing here.

YES.

Craft Farms in GS. Only a couple of neighborhoods to choose from, but there are some smaller ones with other kids Stay away from the multitude of pop-up neighborhoods led by DR Horton. Shitty homes.

GS is cheaper and there a more "things to do". Also, they just broke away from Baldwin County to form their own school system, and nobody really knows what's going to happen, other than the kids from OB heading to Elberta for high school (not applicable in your situation).
If my wife and I had the money, we'd be in OB. But, she's a teacher and has decided not to make any money in life to help those less fortunate.

I wouldn't care about a casino being put in Fairhope either, but this is near my business and home.
