I have no issues with WIC. SNAP should be the same, an approved list to choose from. No EBT cash benefits. Beyond WIC, my question is why is it the taxpayers who have to support all of these people? I can see low paying jobs. You want McDonalds and other similar workers? Ok, supplement. But everyone else? That should be on their family. Not taxpayers

It costs less than $1.50 a week for the portion of my federal/state taxes that pay for the programs to ensure at least some kids in my area get to eat. You can't cough up $75 a year to feed hungry kids? $6 a month?

Now add Medicaid. Add SSI for people who didn’t work or pay into it. And anything else you can think of. It’s not right. Food list? No issues. EBT, yea, I have an issue with it.

Of course you lefties don't really dig responsibility much I reckon

If you believe that this could ever happen on a large enough scale, you might as well believe in the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. Lazy sonsofbitches are as old as man itself.

At least with WIC it is limited to certain types of food and products, such as cheese, milk, dry beans, cereal, juice, baby formula, etc. You can't get steaks on WIC.

American farmers are all poor and receive SNAP.

Most people are not rooting for food stamps/WIC to expire overnight. The elderly and disabled need the assistance. What people want to change is the ability of women with a lot of kids by a lot of different men to get thousands of dollars every month that they spend on junk food.

Is that using the estimate that 1.5% of federal spending going towards SNAP?

Don’t confuse funding a wasteful bureaucratic govt program with actually helping people truly in need.

Also, don’t assume people opposed to funding govt welfare programs don’t do more to help others in need around them on top of the % of their taxes going to welfare programs like food stamps & WIC.

If you can’t take that $75 and do a better job helping people truly in need than the govt does then you might just be a govt employee.

But 100 years ago it was work or starve or stand in a bread line

There are plenty of jobs available so no one should starve

The poor kids aren't hungry, they're fatter than rich kids. And I'm sure all the bleeding hearts in this thread saw the other thread with this:

If you can’t accept people starving in the ditch, then nothing will change.

Starvation has been a motivator for people to work for thousands of years.

We took that away, to horrific consequences.

I’m for a temporary safety net. But very short-term with limited lifetime availability.

are you crazy? they feel entitled to the same exact stuff we work and pay for. Just like healthcare they expect the best possible healthcare...why should they have to pay for things they can get for free? suggesting they take care of themselves is absolute crazy talk
