My buddy since 4th grade. He said he’d charge somebody else $800. Just blind trust for my bro who has helped me here for 20 years. All I know is it’s cold again

I was just curious on how many pounds of R22 he charged you for

I don’t know. It was a handshake deal- just fill it up . He said it was his cost. I know it’s been 2-3 years since I had had it done.

What I’ve been told is no.

That's incorrect. They can continue to manufacture R410a equipment for the replacement market forever.

Yes thanks for clarifying I knew there was a compatibility issue. I just didn’t understand why.
One op mentioned that 410A or Puron can be processed indefinitely- but I don’t think that’s the case.

R410a is going through a phasedown not a phase-out.

Currently we have a carrier that’s 50 years old, made in the USA, and hasn’t given us any trouble in literally years.

Leave it to the OT to bitch about having to replace an old arse inefficient AC unit that should have been replaced 30+ years ago.

this, 50 years is awesome longevity but old baw has probably paid for a new unit over the last 2-3 years in excessive utility bills

You are 100% correct. The misconception is R410A has been/is being phased out like R22 was. R410A is.just being phased down - which means the manufacturers (Honeywell) are just producing less of it due to the high carbon credits it costs them to manufacture it.

Regarding R22 - there is still a market for it and you can still get it. R22 just is not being manufactured anymore, but if you get R 22 now more than likely it is reclaimed refrigerant

"Efficency" is the worst thing to happen to modern machinery.
Makes everything more expensive to repair.
