I feel like my air conditioners dont cool our house as well as the ones at my office do so I was thinking it was time to get it serviced. Any recommendations for a company that wont rip me off or tell me to do things that it doesnt need?

a. you're low on freon
b. see a.
c. if its an older model (10-11 seer) then it probably is costing you money at this point
d. you don't want to get a larger tonnage than you need because if you do it will run less often and not pull all the moisture out of the air which will cause problems with mildew in your house
e. you're looking at 5-10k for a new unit

1st step get a thermometer and measure the temperature difference at supply and return. Preferably at the unit which should be ~17-20 degrees. Measuring at the vent you can an easily get a couple of degrees of temp gain per 10ft of run so that number might not seem as good. But could tell you if you have problems with your duct work. If you have a humid house at lot of the cooling energy will be used in converting water vapor to liquid so this is best done in a condition where you run your AC for a long time drying out the air assuring that you get a good solid reading.
Could be duct problems. Could be a dirty coil giving you poor heat transfer. Could be the coils freezing over because of low freon.

Is this a new problem or have you always felt this way? Maybe it's not your A/C. Has the A/C system ever kept up with demand in the heat of the summer?

when was the last time it was cleaned and serviced? that is 90% of most issues and the biggest issue is a dirty air filter that doesn't get cleaned or changed regularly.
If its a "relatively" new house have seen brand new homes where contractors ran the a/c without a filter while finishing the house and the inside coils were clogged up with sheetrock dust and other crap so just because it isn't old doesn't mean its not really dirty

We are the first owners for the house and it was built 2.5 years ago. It has never been serviced, but does cool the house fine. I change the filters regularly. I just feel the air coming out of the vent isn't as cold as my vents at work. I think system needs to be cleaned and might need a little freon but dont know who to use for that. The outside units are Lennox's and look great.
