Just don’t show up, no one is going to come looking for you
Unless you registered or there is a written record of you accepting or acknowledging the summons, there’s no way they can prove you received the summons

Never been to one and never will go to one. My time is more valuable than spending it to get selected and wasted during trial. Idk why they don’t just choose all the non working EBT ppl to be selected? They literally have nothing better to do

Well...if it's a lady judge just tell her any jury you're on will be a hung jury and wink at her.

Are you a lawyer?

I despise people trying to get out of jury duty.
Thank God we had enough who cared to serve on Daniel Perry's jury to avoid a miscarriage of justice.
Its one of the things that sets is apart as a nation, being allowed to let a jury of our peers hear the facts and make a decision. Other countries you have rogue paid off judges making a decision about your life.
I’ve sat on juries and it’s an honor to do so. It reminds me of why I am an American. And I can help less interested jurists see the facts.
Imagine you are the defendant in court and see all the jurists and all of them look disinterested. It would be at that point you realize the importance of it.
In my last jury duty I had to ask for another notebook, filled up the first one. And my notes paid off as we got to the last 1/4 of case as I had made great notes about key testimony. In deliberations none of the others had and when I showed it to them they then remembered better. It and I made a difference in peoples lives.
Sorry, but it irritates me when people try to skip out. It shows me their character

I've been summoned for jury duty 5 times now. I've never been chosen. My track record is flawless thanks to these two simple tips:
1. I wear a suit and tie.
2. I sit quietly waiting to be called on while happily reading this:
You're welcome.

I've been summoned 4-6 times, but never had to show up.
I'd be glad to, it's my civic duty. I also return my shopping cart, though.

This guy did not like our jury as much.

I would love the opportunity to serve on a jury.

Being opinionated is good. Be vocal whenever the opportunity arises. Ask questions. When asked if you could be impartial try to relate the case to something that happened to you personally and explain why that would make it difficult for you.
Many, if not most, potential jurors get sent home before trial but that doesn't mean it won't cost you lots of time loitering around in the hall. Many cases are settled right before trial starts but the jury selection process has to begin in case settlement talks fall through.

I got called last year. One of the questions in the interview process was "Do you have bumper stickers on your car? If so, list the bumper stickers."
One guy said he had an American Flag and a Rebel Flag on his truck. Dismissed in the first round.

Only been in the jury duty window once and it was shortly after graduating college where I was job searching heavy cause I was only working part time. Really pissed me off I had to waste my time and gas on this. Luckily the 1 trial that was happening in the window I didn't get picked.
Now I have an employer who gives me full pay while on jury duty and of course I haven't received anything.

watched a court house wedding at one my summons cause the judge was the only one on duty that spoke Spanish
then next one a few years later was called off right before jury selection because of some lawyer nonsense, dude looked like a bad hombre so i was a little disappointed we didn't at least hear what he was charged with

Every time there is a shitty or controversial jury decision that makes the news I think back to threads like this.
ETA: I believe that every citizen of good standing should be required to serve on at least one grand jury. You actually learn about our justice system, and more importantly, you gain an understanding of just what goes on around you on a daily basis. A tenth of it actually makes the news, and most people have no idea.

Last time I was called ole baw was about to leave for a pipelining job in another state. The judge made him stay.

Give a vague statement about how your god doesn't allow you to judge other people.

First, as another poster pointed out, you don't want to be too obvious that you are trying to get out of serving. The judge can make your life difficult.
Second, does your jurisdiction have an "on call" system? If so, continue your service to right before a major holiday. The judges are very reluctant to start a jury trial when they will have to break for the holiday.
Third, wear a jacket and tie to show "respect for the system."
