You are aware that God's laws transcend man's laws, correct? What do I care what man says is okay? I'll meet my maker one day and have to account for my decisions. If God saw fit to give me a child with physical challenges, who am I to turn it away?

G-d's law? Which one?

You are aware that the Jewish faith doesn't think abortion is a problem. Do they not worship?

This thread is a prime example of why we need a secular government, and a SC that protects the rights of everyone. There is no difference between the right wing nuts and the ISIS.

Oh so you were never being serious at any point in this thread. Good to know.

There are no guarantees in life. When you become a parent(either by choice or because it was thrust on you unexpectedly or accidentally)...it's not about you anymore. It's about that child and caring for and protecting that child...no matter what.

Nurse gets it.

And here's the thing, when you become a parent, not only is it not about you anymore, you really dont want it to be about you.

I'm sickened over those numbers. There's no way I'd opt for abortion. Idgaf who I offend right here. If you support abortion you should burn in hell.

Good thing hell doesn't exist and people have rights.

Full disclaimer, I'm not a lawyer. There may be some rape- marriage loophole of which I'm unaware.

Have you ever spent time with an individual with Downs?

I just cannot comprehend the callous way people discuss an unborn child, healthy or otherwise, as a "right."

Apparently not. That seems to be a big issue in the world.

Yes.

And some parents wish they had the option for a different choice, especially when their children reached middle age and the parents were elderly.

I know a very Christian mother of a down syndrome woman who prays for her daughter to get an illness bc of the horror that is the daughter's life.

Some cases are good and some are bad. The bottom line is parents get to decide what is the best choice.

I'd bet he's not or he'd have a different opinion on people with Down's syndrome just being a burden and not giving anything back to society.

I can't comprehend how people keep wanting to throw around "freedom" and "rights" but simultaneously ignoring the rights and freedoms of the child

This thread just confirms how pathetic a majority of people truly are around here. Absolutely disgusting.

First off this is talking about down syndrome only, right?

Those people are absolute blessings. Not a burden. Only some selfish a-hole with outside perspective would even dare say such a thing. People should maybe check out the show Born This Way and get some perspective from their family members.

Seriously, frick this place. And frick anyone devaluing someone else's life because they don't deem it worthy.

Sad.

This. I think those that would abort a fetus that possibly has DS should fully educate themselves on DS before making that decision.

Spend time with DS adults on different ends of the DS spectrum. I've met numerous DS adults that hold various jobs....is that not contributing to society? Maybe they are not doctors or lawyers....but isn't the person who bags your groceries still being a productive member of society?

My wife and I watched it.

And the young lady who was very sweet - can't remember her name - and had her "company" couldn't make change.

She was what...over 20 years old.

Most women with down syndrome are sexually abused bc they lack the mental capability and people take advantage of them.

For some people, that is not the life they want for their children.

And that's an acceptable choice.

if it makes it any better, if I got my g/f pregnant right now, we'd likely have the baby aborted no matter if it had DS or not.

I'm pro life no matter what. I'm sure life is tough having a down syndrome child, but that's no excuse. And this topic makes me sad because I have a soft spot for those with down syndrome. Some of them are some of the happiest people on earth.

The last thing we want as a society is to reach a level of moral bankruptcy where it becomes acceptable to kill those that some view as a "burden on society" or "better off dead" all due to disability.
