A year ago there were lots of articles about how Kirby Smith would soon be demolished.

I was on campus Sunday and kids were moving into it. So is the demolition canceled or merely delayed? That shite needs to go. Hopefully it will come down when Spruce Hall goes online.

I left some DNA in that building, I'm pretty sure.

It was supposed to be prepped for demolition the year I moved out of there... In 2006...

You don't demolish Kirby Smith.

Kirby Smith demolishes you.

Spruce Hall

It better be named after someone named Spruce and not a tree which does not occur naturally in Louisiana.

One of the other halls is Cypress , so probably not. However, I am with you. Why not live oak, magnolia, etc?

It's named after the tree. You'll have Cypress, Spruce and Cedar Halls all next to each other. And sorry, I was confused. Spruce Hall just went online this semester. Cedar Hall is still under construction.

Spruce hall is open now.

Also, why is Kirby Smith considered non-viable, when Miller and Herget still are popular and full?

Their proximity to the Greek houses will keep them full as long as they’re standing.

After the robot apocalypse when kill bots are wandering the desolate ruins of Baton Rouge looking for anything to blast, Kirby-Smith will still be standing.

They've been "about to tear down Kirby smith" for like 15 years.

Herget and Miller started out as girls dorms (I guess Miller still is?) so less wear and tear. When they come in drunk they try to make it to the bathroom before puking instead of letting fly in the elevator.

They turned it into offices while MDA and Pleasant Hall were being renovated.

I think Johnston and Hatcher Hall were also dorms that were turned into offices, except those would be badass places to stay now and the offices are permanent.

Kirby sucks.

I stayed in Kirby Smith for Boys State in 2000. They were saying it would be coming down in a few years then.

IIRC some kind of FBI terrorism task force operates out of Johnston or Hatcher. I am not making this up

They delayed it by a couple of weeks but they are going to demolish it on a randomly selected night without prior notice, last I heard from my buddy who is subcontracting on it.

Miller, Herget, and McVoy are all slated for demolition. New ones going up nearby. Not sure of the timeline.

Dirty Herg and Miller are the next set of dorms to get renovated once the Nicholson Gateway and the tree complexes that have taken up Hart Lot are complete.
