It's no big deal. I'm just saying everyone situation is different. If the guy who got married at 22 and he is happy good for him and if someone wants to live at home after college and save money it's different times. People need to get off their high horse and realize that.

It's hard for the baby boomers to retire when the finish line keeps getting moved on them. Used to you could retire at 62 without too many penalties. Not anymore.

Which moves the starting line for late GenX early Millenials.

And they'll belaying catch to avoid doing the same thing to their grandchildren.

It's good that he has chosen to work, but has he ever welded before? I worked in a fab shop and in the field before school and hated it. That experience is what made my decision to go to school easier.

I swear kids today don't have a clue about how easy they have it. I started working before I could legally drive and when I was in high school, I bought my own clothes, bought my own car and even paid the insurance on it, all by myself. Did I miss out on some parties? Hell yeah, but what I learned about work ethic and responsibility has carried me pretty far thus far

"Kids" today can't afford that with many full time entry level jobs while pay sky high tuition. There is a tuition bubble.

These parents are definitely not helping these kids by letting them mooch.

Well the parents didn't help their kids by flushing the economy down the shitter. I graduated in 2008 and it was a shite show trying to get a job, and more importantly, keep that job as the economy went further south. I weathered it okay, but others didn't. I've know several friends that lived with their parents after they got laid off. I don't fault them one bit. You do what you have to do.

That rate is probably one of the lowest in the world. The concept of not living with family is fairly unique to the US. Obviously the 20 somethings need to be working and contributing but I like how in other countries family is more important even if it is often out of necessity. Me, my parents, and my sisters family all live within 5 minutes of each other and combined we waste about 60-70 percent of our living space and alot of money on utilities and cable/internet. I can't admit I'd actually want to live with them but the finance major in me is bothered by the waste and how much money I could turn that savings into in 20 years. I understand that family values and avoiding wasting money is not what is driving the current increase we're seeing it just took me on that tangent.

Yup. Lived with my folks through college, graduated debt free. If your parents are cool with it, take advantage.

I will admit missing out on dorm life is a regret of mine. shite sounded awesome when I was in my first couple years at LSU.

25, rent an apt in Southdowns. My main question for the people that live at home - WTF do you do when you meet a girl and they find out you're over the age of 23 and live you your mom and dad? Sorry but I really don't think a respectable girl could get over that fact. What about bringing a rando back from the bar? She gonna do the walk of shame in front of your family? I sure as frick don't want to live at home and I damn well know my parents don't want their grown man of a son living at home either. Barring an extreme situation, I'd fight tooth and nail for my independence over living with my parents.

Dude get off this shite. It's so old hearing you people (read millennials ) blame old people or investment bankers or any of the other shite for your troubles. Yes, you're facing an uphill battle, but suck it up and get going. Every generation faces it's challenges. Hate to tell you, but you really aren't the first to face what you're facing. You may be the first to not overcome it with your whiny attitudes.

Oh and countryvolfan, sorry if none of this applies to you. I don't mean it personally as I don't know you. Just a general opinion.

no one who I've met here and hang out with now has given two shits about me living at home.

plus who brings randos home? you go to their place so you can leave whenever and she doesn't know where you live.

Don't worry. Those very same gold diggers will still be there after my financial portfolio is well established.
