If it’s just October rent that wasn’t paid, and you haven’t seen any other documentation or been to court, you haven’t been evicted. You probably just got a 3 day pay or quit notice. Which means, you actually have plenty of time to come up with the money. Or move. After the 3 day/, then they file eviction and wait for a court date, which is usually a few weeks away. Then after that, you would still have a few days to vacate.
You kinda panicked way too early. Unless it was more than octobers rent that wasn’t paid.

I’m angry about leeches on society and those that enable them. Yes, you are correct.

He hasn’t paid his rent in months and is coming here with a woe is me at the last minute leaving out a number of details to make people feel bad for him.
Is that harsh? Maybe, but it’s also true

What happened in your life to make you such a miserable, cold SOB? Whether you have any sympathy or not is your business. But your determination to make sure everyone here knows what a "bad dude" you are says a lot about you.
Why don't you just pipe down?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong for outing a swindler

Nothing. I keep it real. Most people would rather stick their head in the sand and don’t like it when people like me address the elephant in the room. That’s a you problem. Not a me problem.

Are you surprised? The OT is celebrating his sobriety like he fricking cured cancer. Congrats on not being an alcoholic, but I do not understand the praise.

I need a loan.. Will you give me a $375k loan interest free?
Posted on 11/10/25 at 1:05 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
I have no interest in shaming OP for his circumstances
But knowing nothing of the situation before and seeing
a) that his daughter has been paying his rent; and
b) seeing him call his daughter who has been paying his rent ungrateful for going out and living her life; and
c) making the reasonable assumption that he might have had some deficiencies as a father resulting from 30 years of alcoholism...
I don't think these reactions are surprising. I do agree with those who think you can separate help/charity from life lessons/chastisement to some extent, even when you think both are relevant and important.

Bruh, you are going old school OT..

Will he learn a lesson? I think LSURussians charitable donation is admirable, but given the circumstances it sounds like a bandaid at best.
The world is a shite place and sometimes you get turned off by situations like this. A recovering alcoholic who supposedly worked for 35 years but has no retirement or savings to speak of? Placing the burden of paying his rent on his daughter? Seems like a shite sandwich

The problem today is people aren’t laughed and ridiculed by all of us for their shitty decisions and being lazy slobs.
I do agree with this.
I remember when I was in school.. I went to public school, but people used to get picked on if they were on welfare.. Kids would tell other kids they momma bought something on layaway. Then at some point, it seemed like maybe the early 2000s, I want to say there was even a campaign saying everyone needs help, there is nothing to be ashamed of to be on welfare (it wasn't worded like that, but that's pretty much what it was saying.
Then came gofund me and people were asking others for money for anything.
Today, if a kid tells another kid that his new shirt was bought with welfare money and then laughs at him, that kid would suspended, etc.

I am not trying to questions what you have done financially, etc... But did you not have a retirement? If you paid into retirement for 45 years you should have around $2Mish.

Since he was an Alcoholic most of those years, I'm going with no retirement.
