Because he didn't fire it. This website somehow managed to start that rumor and it doesn't exist anywhere else. So when it turns out he didn't fire the gun, protestors are going to seize on that. "See? He didn't shoot! No justice No peace!" The facts clearly show he was armed and reached for the gun. That is plenty to justify what happened.

Did they video the cop planting the gun on Alton Sterling. No? Then that's racist and I'm not watching.

You don't know that for 100% certainty, just like those saying he fired the gun don't know with 100% veryainty. My point is why can you say things you don't know, but others can't?

Pretty simple to go search the video on Youtube and watch the police remove the gun from his pocket moments after Sterling gets shot. People who deny he had a gun have mental issues.
Some of my facebook friends actually believe Lake and Salomoni wanted to murder Alton so they set it all up.
They gave a bum a burner phone and some $$ to make 911 call. Then detained and shot Alton while planting a gun in his pocket.
I shite you not. This what more than two of my FB and longtime childhood friends believe as 40 yr old men. Sad.

But President of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the NAACP, Mike McClanahan says without justice, there can be no peace. He expects if DOJ does not bring forth charges, there will be protests and rallies around the city.

“We will create uneasiness in this city until someone would want to say change needs to come right now and make that change happen,” McClanahan said.

I was staying out of those posts at the time bc of a connection between a friend and the Sterlings.
But one of them actually asked how a homeless guy could procure a cell phone?
Boggles my fricking brain how, since 2008, there have been ez-up tents with kiosk set up in the hood on every corner giving out Obama Phones to anyone who could prove they were below the poverty line.
Finally someone replied to him the actual process of how a homeless man can get a phone delivered to the shelter nearest him and pick it up without even having an ID if he had the receipt he got when signing up. BOOM.

What was their alleged motivation?

If this is true, it does not matter if he fired a shot.

An intensely held belief that intellectual property must be protected.

Why did Loretta Lynch, Obama's Dir. of the DOJ, order his autopsy sealed? Connect the dots.

..my guess is that it's because the video of the incident that has made the rounds doesn't clearly show a gun or Sterling's right hand.
Exactly. The videos aren't clear enough to show that it's a gun, but I believe it's very likely it is.
And honestly, it doesn't really matter either way. They pulled something from his pocket in the video, after he was shot. It resembled a gun, although the video was grainy. This confirms that it was reasonable for the officers to believe he may gave had a gun in his pocket and was struggling, trying to reach for it. The officers couldn't control his arm that was reaching for the pocket. Why is it so hard for people to wrap their brains around how it may be justifiable to shoot someone who may have an opportunity to shoot you?
