Got sick with a cough last week and went home. Ended up in the ER that night. Diagnosed with cryptococcal meningitis. Passed away within a week.
No idea what caused it, really no warning. Its a rough day around here.
Sorry to hear.
Really shows your how fragile life if and how silly it is to worry about stupid stuff like truck nuts and politics.

That shite is the DEVIL. Took a healthy gal in Baton Rouge recently. Tons of people knew her and we all thought she was making a full recovery when she suddenly crashed fast.

People more at risk for developing cryptococcal meningitis will often have one of the following underlying conditions:
HIV
AIDS
diabetes
leukemia
cirrhosis of the liver
transplanted organs

Based on google there must've been health issues that weren't obvious by just looking and interacting with him at work.

Ahh. Thinking about something else then.

I became supervisor at an office which audited a company.
At that company, there was ONE person who had knowledge of a specialized requirement. That person had minor surgery, went to sleep, and didn't wake up. The company struggled for nearly two years to find a competent replacement.

I survived this 28 years ago. Many of my friends and family thought I was going to die. It took me a long time to fully recover but I finally did.
It’s a very rough road and it’s very tough to get back to where you were before.

You're probably thinking about 'meningococcal meningitis'. That's the one that hits college campuses (and military boot camps).
'Meningitis' just means an inflammation of the meninges - the membranes that cover the brain. It can be caused by lots of things, and the different causes can have different predicted outcomes. 'Cryptococcus' is a fungus, and cryptococcal meningitis is serious but really rare. 'Meningococcus' is a bacteria (real name is Neisseria meningitidis). That one can be easily transmitted, and can have an extremely rapid progression, so it gets a lot of attention.
FWIW, whatever else you believe about vaccinations, please make sure your kids get the HiB (Hemophilus influenzae type B) - that bacteria USED to be the most common cause of meningitis in very young babies before the vaccine was available, and it was devastating when it hit (thankfully rare).

Not sure why people are down voting you because I just googled it and read the same thing

I had meningitis when I was less than a year old.
It's scary when you read about healthy college students who wait just a few hours too long, go to the student health center, and they're dead the next day.
