Due to dumb luck the center of the last eclipse passed right over my house in SC. That was one of the damnedest things I’ve ever witnessed. I’d be willing to travel to see that again.
Edit: the writer is a moron. We had totality across the SE if you were in the right spot just a few years ago.

There is no way it can travel at one mile per minute, though.

Last time this happened people were buying those paper glasses for $20/pair. Time to stock up.

For the first time ever, this type of eclipse will be visible in North America.
Then what was it that I saw and photographed in White Sands, New Mexico in 2012? Sure looked like one to me.

I remember that one. It got dark enough that my outside light came on

It was 2017 and the center of the totality went right over Cola SC. At the peak it was dark and you could take your glasses off…it looked just like the pictures. Big black disk with a white fire ring around it. …except pictures can’t do it justice to see that in the sky.
I see why ancient people were so freaked out by them.
Also, the one in 2017 was a total eclipse so apparently this one is different.

It is interesting that this article came from Martha Stewart Living.
Not that it diminishes the topic or the article, it just gave me a chuckle.
