That exit splits from one lane into 2 lanes - left turn and right turn. Siting heavy traffic you often have people on the shoulder to get around whichever lane is backed up.
Pulling off onto the shoulder to get to the open left turn lane right in front of you is a bit different than driving through the grass to cut people off at the red light.

No. There is only one left turn and one right turn lane at that exit. The car is apparently trying to pass cars trying to turn left, to cut back in closer to the light.

I was in Baton Rouge Sunday and driving down 12 and a car passes a car on the shoulder in fast lane doing 100mph. Throwing all the debris on the shoulder all over everyone. Later, the car was wrecked in the median, karma? Car totaled.

I understand the sentiment, but I hope the person you block is not legitimately having an emergency and trying to get to a hospital. I don’t know BR or have any idea if that is remotely what was happening here. It’s probably one in an untold number, but I know of one instance where that happened.

I was going to NOLA one day and the BC was shut down due to a wreck and traffic was diverted to I55. Assholes thought they could just get on the shoulder and skip the line. I camped out on the shoulder and blocked everyone from doing so. When I got to the Laplace exit a guy got next to me at the light and told me he wished he could get out and shake my hand for stopping people from doing that.
