has this become the default reply when a poster doesn't have any rationale, logical response to something that doesn't confirm his worldview?

No, but the author is saying the US is getting poorer due to wealth inequality. Which has been a rallying cry for socialists and communists for a long time now.

would you not agree that the rich are getting richer as a rate that exceeds what other classes (middle class, poor, etc) are attainining?

But that’s never been a measurement of poverty. At least not “poverty” in any meaningful sense. It just means some people are making a lot more than others.

Especially from a left leaning news group, which is even more left-leaning since the ownership change.

At least the WSJ publishes highly-critical articles on Trump.

One of the world’s oldest gigs: change the stat until you find the one that fits your narrative.

It never seems to matter to the class warfare people how the “rich” are making their money. Musk, Bezos, Gates and Buffet along with plenty other billionaires were not born with extreme wealth but earned it.

It’s a far cry from Russian revolution where they were overthrowing the aristocracy who gained their money by just being born.

You can simultaneously believe inequality is bad without resorting to the ridiculous stunts the author of this study pulls to get an answer he wanted

Do you honestly believe it takes a German only 30 minutes to earn the same amount that it takes an American 63 minutes?

The $1 is measured in international dollars. This means it buys the same amount of goods and services in any country as a US dollar does in the United States. It is often used alongside purchasing power parity (PPP) data. The “time” refers to a day of life for anyone, at any age and in any circumstance — not just the hours worked by someone with a job. Time needed to earn $1 in international dollars As of 2025, the time needed to earn $1 is 63 minutes in the US

Ok if you divide how many 63 minute intervals there are in a 24 hour day, that comes to 22 dollars a day and change. That’s working minimum wage 3 hours a day.

Math doesn’t compute at all. Article is complete bullshite

If we hadn't absorbed about 40 million sub 100 iq third world idiots poverty would basically be gone in the US.

We can't solve poverty while simultaneously importing it.

I know. 34k USD a year puts you above 99% of the world.

I can’t fathom a family of 5 living on $40 USD a month yet for millions that is their reality.

You will never end poverty. It is completely impossible. Poverty is measured in two ways: 1. As a function of the distribution of income and 2. As a function of the federal poverty income limit which is based on the federal minimum wage.

Even if you do away with the federal minimum wage, you will NEVER be able to bridge the income/wealth gap. Whether income/wealth is measured on the Bell curve or on a class scale, you will always have an upper class and others.

Gee, a Euro professor figured out a way to work some numbers to try to make Europeans look better and Americans look worse. How riveting.
