Lead, follow, or get out of the way...

It's a goddamn train. You ain't leading it anywhere, you ain't fast enough to follow... so get the hell out of the way.

If you had any idea how worthless human lives are in most 3rd world shitholes you'd know the answer already. A child running out into the street could get crushed by a large truck and people will hardly stop to swerve around the body and the few that do will be snapping photos/video to put on social media.

He fell under her but someone pulled him immediately and you can see his feet and part of his legs being dragged away from her body.

At this point in time, I'd say she's now gotten a lot of views--------all for the wrong reason.

She's just another in the long list of precautionary tales about trying to get that ultimate selfie while putting ones self in harms way.

Thanks for using the proper terminology. It's not fricking gravel, people!

Used to run these so know the proper terminology.

*we actually called it rock as much as ballast. Never gravel though.
** I may, or may not, actually be in that pic.

There’s a video of another woman getting the phone knocked out of her hand by that same valve cover. Someone here not on mobile can track it down…

People are incredibly dumb.

I was on the Holiday Train once and we stopped in a small town for them to do their show. (They had a band that played in a boxcar back in the train) It was a small town so the engine was "outside" town where it was dark with no streetlights.

Even though I had the lights off I could see people out in front of me on the tracks. Not a big deal until it came time to go. I flipped on the headlights/ditchlights, which put out about a billion candlepower, and turned on the bell and none of these idiots moved. They just kept milling around on the tracks. They give me a highball from the back end so I hit the horn a couple times to get these idiots to move. They finally start getting off the track so I kick off the brakes and am about to start inching ahead when this mouthbreather starts screaming at me about hitting the horn and damaging his baby's ears. I just look down at him while he's going off with a smirk.

When he's finally done screaming, while holding his baby with damaged ears I might add, I simply shout down to him "Merry Christmas" as I hit the horn again to make sure the idiots get out of the way as we head out of town.

Like I said; People are dumb. Frankly amazed someone hasn't been killed by the Holiday Train yet. The crowds were nuts when I ran it.

Holiday Train for those that have no idea;

It'll probably run down in LA and Texas this year what with the CP-KCS merger.

Being in the rail industry I would advise to never be anywhere close to a string moving that fast. Trains throw rocks and debris all the time, especially moving at 50mph or so like in the video. Im shocked she wasn’t decapitated.

Commuters in Chicago are the most oblivious people I have ever seen.

They'd stay behind the line on the platform at least, but just barely. Blew up a few skirts and turned some umbrellas inside out flying by at 60 while they stood there in their own little world not even facing the train.

Some banding flailing around off a center beam would cut them in half.

Like you say, rails would never stand close to one going by at track speed.

Hell, I'd go sit in the conductor's seat when sitting in a siding if the main was on my side while he went out to roll one by.

West end of Tunnel City. That picture is from a while ago. The sand mine really changed the landscape.

Used to be able to see the remnants of original grade in spots just south of the current alignment. (Not talking about the CNW grade on the north side.)

Frankly amazed with how that area is completely different with the sand mine. Never would have imagined a small yard and mine there 20 years ago.

And yes it was taken a while ago. It has cars for the long demolished Ford plant on the head end.
