This is a great story. I would like to believe that more, including myself, would be more inclined to help without having a threat of being burglarized/murdered/etc.

It's not their fault. The Hollywood nutcases all moved to Canada after Trump was elected. Canada doesn't play that game with illegal aliens...you can't even enter Canada, as a US citizen, if you have a DWI.

From the article - The couple receives SOME benefits from disability, etc... If one or both of them can get at least part-time employment - They could easily save up $12-15k over the course of a year living rent/bill-free. That could at least get them set up to move somewhere less expensive.
