A hero died last week

I like to read the obits. A Baton Rouge hero died last week. Unfortunately, war heroes don't get much press as they did in olden days and when we do hear about them, its usually vets who are up in their years. This obit is about a young one. Purple Heart winner. He deserves to be remembered.

James "Aarron" Boozer passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the age of 33. He was a native and resident of the Baton Rouge area. Aarron was an Army veteran and paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne Chosen Company 2-503rd. He served in Iraq where he earned his combat parachutist star and a Purple Heart. He also served two tours in Afghanistan. His passions were fishing and cooking. Aarron is survived by his daughter, Riley Anne; mother, Beth Scarbrough; father, Jim Boozer; brother, Scott McLennan; grandmother, Martha Scarbrough; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Aarron is preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Scarbrough. Visitation will be held at St. Jean Vianney, 16166 S. Harrells Ferry Rd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 9:00AM until the funeral Mass at 10:00AM. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.greenoaksfunerals.com.

Maybe we should care. Isn’t suicide a major issue with veterans? Not saying that is the case here. I have no idea but thought crosses my mind when young vets go

Unfortunately for my generation (OIF/OEF/OIR), suicide is a victory for the enemy. A lot of untreated medical conditions and the day to day life pushes my brothers and sisters to do this.
Regardless of what caused this young man to pass, it doesn't take away from what he did for us. Suicide is a horrible way to go for anyone, but these are unseen wounds. Most don't recognize this and think it's just suicide for an easy way out.
We aren't treated as bad as Vietnam vets, but today's society really doesn't support our military. Most are pro military or against. The people who are against probably has never had someone they know or think it's our fault over a stupid belief.
I've seen first hand parents who don't want their kids to do this or think their kids are too good to serve. However, when a kid does join, the family that was against it, will be so motivated about the accomplishment and the larger picture.
Someone has to fight for us, if not we wouldn't have simple freedoms we have today. Sucks to lose anyone for any reason, but this man does deserve the thanks for what he went through.

I think he meant "he doesn't know how he died because it doesn't diminish anything".
That's how I read it, if I'm wrong he should commence the activities that you suggested.
