How long was he doing 1/5 a day? Thats harsh on the body. Some ppl go a bit nuts too with that level of intake.

I used to do 1/2 a fifth of Beam and 3 beers daily for longer than I care to remember. I can see an entire fifth as a possibility.

He most likely had some liver damage at that rate. Hopefully just fatty liver, which you can recover from.

I used to drink a 12 pack of bud light every night like it was nothing. Thankfully I quit drinking 3-4 years ago and can’t imagine tasting a drop of alcohol these days. Very glad I got over that dumb addition

I was drinking a half gallon of Evan every 3 maybe 4 days. Not including beer or apple pie moonshine. Quit for about 5 years till covid. Now it’s not a necessity everyday. Maybe a beer or 2 at dinner if I think about it. The detox was rough never want to do that again.

Y'all would be shocked to learn how many alcoholics will go through 1.75 L handles of 40% alcohol every 2 days. And many of them do it for a year+ straight before organ failures/rock bottom.
I know two personally in Baton Rouge who drank like that for over 2 yrs straight.
One is far away from here and sober. But only after a major spiral to rock bottom and multiple seizures.
The other is dead.

I don’t see how people are able to function day to day drinking that much alcohol. Strong constitution I guess.

Guy in my frat in college became an alcoholic. He was drinking over a fifth of vodka everyday. He burned a hole in his stomach

I've drank a handle over 4-5 days at Mardi Gras or during an SEC Baseball series at the Box sharing with another friend.
But I am useless for days and can't drink for weeks after that without gagging.
How anyone can can do that over and over is mind boggling.
