He's not my buddy. I don't know him personally, I've seen his name on company memos and documents, so I know the name, but I don't know him. He works in a different division than I do.
From what I do know about him, he was a long time employee and respected by his fellow workers.

He should lawyer up. While Louisiana is a at will State. I would think that if you actually give a employee a reason for termination that should have some merit. Which this doesn’t. GM is stupid, if he wanted this guy gone or even if he was fired for the reason you said he should have just said. Hey man we don’t need you anymore pack up your shite and go.
