Hmmmm. There is one opening up here later this year. I'm thinking between that and our monthly Sams trip we could save some serious $$$.

Aldi has $1.59 gallons of milk in Houston. That is dirt cheap.

Love Publix, but it's just a nicer and slightly more expensive version of Kroger so it won't solve your problem, I don't think.

They don't just sell groceries. They have a gazebo for $59.99. I have one by my house and get the sale papers. Next time they have their fold-up tables on sale I will go pick a couple up.

That's all we have. We have it so much that there were literally 2 Krogers across the street from each other, until they closed on for remodeling.
We also have a Fresh Market, which is awesome, and they are building a Whole Foods, which I guess will be OK, never been. Never set foot in a Aldi, not even sure where they are, but they must be around here, because we get their ads every week in the mail. Oh... also have a Sprouts Farmers Market coming. Anybody know anything about them?

Have one of them right in front of a Super Walmart here in Raleigh. Have a couple others around. I've been in them a couple of times, but never bought anything. Lots of name brands I've never heard of.

It's all private label, but they create brands instead of using the Aldi banner.
In business school, our professor bought 10 food items from Aldi along with their American-branded counterparts. In a blind taste test, most could not tell the difference between Aldi and Brand version and the Aldi version was preferred for several items.

A lot of these brands you have never heard of are made specifically for Aldi by the big Brands. Example, Millville Cereals, made by General Mills. You can google a few of the brands they sell and see who really makes them. The packaging and all is very, very similar. They sell "Clancys" chips, they are better than Lays all day. I don't care about the brand name, I care about how it taste. Every "knock off" I have bought from there has been just as good.
ETA: Not making this up. I bet my grocery bill is down 40-50% and have not given up anything in terms of quality, IMO. Don't let the name on the box make the decision for you. Everything in there is only a dollar or 2 so buy some and see for yourself. Milk, Eggs, Chips, Protein Bars, Nuts, Produce, Cheese,Pasta, Sauces, Dressings, Taco Shells etc. are all great buys as Aldi.

I find that Aldi is mostly junk food that I'm not interested in buying and the stuff that I might actually buy I can get cheaper or better quality at Costco.
I'm a big fan of our local Sprouts that opened up in Madison, AL. Nice store--like Whole Foods but cheaper and less pretentious.

45 stores probably doesn't have walmart quaking yet. I have only been once because it isn't close enough but moving near one right across from a walmart so let the competition begin.

I love aldi, lived in that store while at university, they also have a pretty good scheme for business grads the UK one pays $60-70k plus a company Audi TT...they are however slave drivers
I had to study them for a course, a lot of part time work, and everything is as streamlined and efficient as possible, they don't really have store rooms, everything on the floor ASAP...allows the shop floor to be as big as possible but also mean for a lot of their stuff what you see is what they have once it's gone it's gone

I like Aldi for some things.
Their produce section isn't much. They have a cheap Pinot Grigio that's not bad.
