made me quit being a landlord. Renters just don’t care about property and they certainly didn’t seem to care about losing their deposit, which was never enough to cover repairs.
My oldest just graduated HS and his teacher used Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell (based and awesome.)
When we were driving through the suburbs I commented on hating all the condos, duplexes and apartments going up.
He said “hey, that’s capitalism, I’m all for it.”
I said when you become a homeowner in a community your opinion on capitalism when it comes to renters will change greatly.
Not endorsing the other side, it’s hot garbage. But you will feel differently about a permanent class of renters when you get there.

The pipes wouldn't survive that. Likely didn't survive the concrete once it dried. No matter what kind of pipe, particularly old pipe. Cast iron would split, galvanized bottom out, pvc break. If it went out also they could be looking at major fiscal responsibility fixing a municipal line and/or manhole. Or a new septic. May cost more than the house if fines are involved.

I’m not quite sure why you can’t press criminal charges against people who sabotage properties.
You absolutely can, but usually they don't have enough to come even close to paying for what they've destroyed.

There was a private apartment complex by law school that was poorly managed and roach infested. I lived there two months and got the hell out. A kid three doors down took a week's worth of dumps in the vegetable bin of the refrigerator, then moved out in the middle of the month on the 5th day of the month. He had paid his rent, so the landlord didn't know he had moved out until the next month when the rent wasn't paid.

When I worked in insurance I saw a handful of houses with bitter evicted renters. It was enough to make me avoid being a landlord for the most part.
My brother is HPD and used to work SE Houston.. rough. There was a landlord that owned a bunch of rentals. He didn’t bother with evictions. Too much time and money.
He would send his crew over to the house and they had a way to remove all exterior doors. Pull up, remove doors, throw them in a truck and drive off. Between heat, mosquitos, cold, etc… People got their arse out of the house quickly.

In what universe is the 5th day of the month the middle?

I think he meant just during the month as opposed to the first or last day, but it was very confusing how he worded it.
