Not as far as I know. It was discovered after "serious" abdominal surgery in post operative biopsies.
My guess would be she had a hysterectomy and the cancer is related to that.
That's just an uneducated hunch based on the fact they kept the surgery secret. I would think if she had her appendix removed during an acute case of appendicitis or her gall bladder taken out for some health reason then that information would have been publicized because it's relatively ordinary and there's nothing embarrassing about that part of the anatomy. The bowels and reproductive organs are where people get more uncomfortable discussing health issues.
