What makes an active Grambling alumnus?

I’m assuming an alumnus that actually has a real job. Which is probably rare

I understand why restaurants do this.

Do you think they would have deviated from their own policy and done this to a small party if we were white, though?

I didn't press the issue. I sure could have. The sign said "parties of six or more." I could absolutely have walked out of there without tipping at all and been 100% in compliance with their stated price structure.

Guess they didn't think of that, racial intelligence advantage be damned.

A friend's GF is a waitress at a CBD restaurant, Saturday night she waited a table of 4 couples (8 people). Bill was $225, the Grambling Alumni left her a $5 tip.

But ultimately they only screwed themselves out of a few dollars with that decision, so frick 'em. If I started calling people every time I experienced racism I wouldn't have much time or energy left for anything else.

Do you blame them?

Probably not, but I bet they've been burned by white parties before.

They have historical data to confirm that this is an overall difficult weekend to staff because of the majority of the customers are difficult. The restaurants typically lose money this weekend. People complain when they're open. They complain when they're closed. The vendors and the bank don't care about complaints. You need a profit to pay them.

Shouldn't he be mad at the black people who take advantage of that hotel instead of the manager who constantly has to make sure everyone in the dining room is actually a paying guest?

Shouldn't he be angry at the fact that this weekend is a factual net negative for most of the city. Restaurants are over staffed and have to deal with anrgy and unruly customers.

Hotels have to staff up and hire extra security and deal with angry and very damaging customers.

Etc...

But no. Please by all means he angry at the manager who has to deal with all of these headaches.

How many pieces of bacon did he put on his plate?

I have seen some folks plate up 30 or 40 pieces. Totally empty the pan. Might have been the reason. Never saw anyone do that with those little sausage things, but they really aren't that good.

My brother-in-law was a chef at the Hilton for a while. He said that weekend was a complete shite show. Rooms were trashed, towels and other items stolen and other stories. One night there were a couple of gangs facing off in the lobby and Hilton security called the NOPD. The front doors opened and into the lobby rode a half dozen mounted police with night sticks. Cleared the lobby quickly.

They screw their servers in my opinion. I'm usually good for 20-25% if I get decent service. Auto grat me, and I'm rolling out with the 18.

I get what you are saying but it probably works out better for the server to automatically charge the tip in the long run. A lot of places tip share based on total sales receipts not how much was actually tipped. The tip share basically comes out of the servers pay. If a server gets stiffed by a table or two with a very large bill, the server might not make much, if any, money for the night.

The Bayou Classic is a natural home for Houston.
