My second child is autistic. She got thrown out of wee school and struggled through Kindergarten and the first 5 years of school. Things set her off and she is quite difficult to keep on task with anything.

I know it is small and insignificant to most but tonight she was accepted for college at Eastern Illinois University. It is about 75 miles from where we live. She got in with her ACT score of 22 and a GPA of nearly 3.0. She has had no accommodations for autism since 6th grade. She earned this on her own. Regular classes with no help. She has worked hard to get to this point.

Her dream school is ULL (I grew up in Lafayette) so call me a bad dad. Anyway, I think she will likely be accepted there too. Parents with autistic kids know you take victories where you can. She has worked hard for this and I am very happy!

Its actually a pretty big deal imo. And with yall's circumstances, even more reason to be proud. Good for her and good luck with whatever the future holds for yall.

Jesus, its nice to hear parenting stories on here that aren't depressing or completely trashy on this board. Well done.

Congratulations. I am sure there has been substantial work done by her and the parents as well to get her to this milestone. You should be very proud!

She earned this on her own.

No she didn't. Parenting had a whole lot to do with that, but your modesty is awesome.

Also I noticed two people downvoted your post, proving my theory that some of the worlds most miserable POS post on this site.
