Maybe this whole thing will be the start to knocking back some of these licenses.

Louisiana is one of the worst about licensing for every industry and business. Louisiana wanted to pass laws several years back that would have made it impossible for you to act as your own contractor on your own house unless you were licensed. It's absurd.
