BATON ROUGE - A home is considered a total loss after an unattended pot left on the stove sparked a fire Monday morning.
Baton Rouge firefighters said the fire started shortly before 3:30 a.m. Monday. The owner of the home said her nephew had been frying fish and reportedly left a pot unattended on the stove.
The home was heavily damaged by flames, smoke, and water, and is considered a total loss. Five people were displaced, and the Red Cross was called to assist them.

Damn, how hot did he have the oil?

Common cause of fire. Don’t fry inside. I knew a guy that died on his sofa because of the exact same circumstances. Fell asleep drunk while heating the grease. Everything was out ready to be cooked.
Once that oil boils over onto the heat source it iignites readily.

This is why God invented pizza rolls and frozen corn dogs......for the drunk and stoned hungry people. Keep it simple.

See, a Hot Pocket was the better choice. Only use the microwave. True, it isn't as good, but you're drunk and everything tastes better when you're drunk.

That's why you just order delivery after the bar so that when you pass out before it arrives you can wake up to a 9 hour old pizza on your doorstep.

My buddy came in drunk and pre-heated the oven for a pizza. He completely forgot about the POUND of marijuana they had stashed in there. Good times

I used to intern for EMS. We would ride on the ambulance on the night shift and attend to sick call, etc. I was amazed at how many people are frying stuff at midnight.

I once passed out on my couch while frying some hash browns late at night. Woke up to a stove on fire, apartment full of smoke, fire alarm blaring, and my downstairs neighbor shaking me awake. Had I not left my door unlocked I might have slept through it and died.

I’ve been told that 375 is the sweet spot for frying up fish.

The Nephew should be told he is not welcome into the next home just for frying fish inside the house.

350-375 is actually correct

Burning your place is not how you make lightly fried fish filets.

How the hell can you sleep through a fire alarm. I wake up if someone steps on a wooden floorboard within 30 feet of me and it slightly creaks

No shite....I woke up to the sound of a car alarm 5 houses down at 3 am the other morning....and I sleep upstairs, with a sound machine, ceiling fan on and door closed
