People like that prick should be shot.

574.115. Making a terrorist threat, first degree — penalty. — 1. A person commits the offense of making a terrorist threat in the first degree if such person, with the purpose of frightening ten or more people or causing the evacuation, quarantine or closure of any portion of a building, inhabitable structure, place of assembly or facility of transportation, knowingly:
(1) Communicates an express or implied threat to cause an incident or condition involving danger to life; or
(2) Communicates a false report of an incident or condition involving danger to life; or
(3) Causes a false belief or fear that an incident has occurred or that a condition exists involving danger to life.
2. The offense of making a terrorist threat in the first degree is a class D felony.
3. No offense is committed under this section by a person acting in good faith with the purpose to prevent harm.
Wouldn't you say there is at least a suspicion of this? Enough to detain the guy and ask a few questions?

I wouldn't sympathize with him whatsoever if someone had shot him. Tensions are way too high to be pulling a stunt like this and you are 100% tempting fate. Look at Times Square after that motorcycle backfired.

Call me anti-American. But I'm not ok with this. I'm all for the 2nd amendment, and people being able to carry protection for themselves everywhere.
There is no reason at all for someone to be carrying a large-scale weapon like that. There is no other reason than to be an ahole who thinks they're a badass, while also spreading mass fear. Its stupid.
Not only the rifle but the 100 round drum mag as well. Atlanta has the world's busiest airport, imagine arriving as a foreigner and seeing this jackass walking around like that.

Carrying around a bomb is illegal, open carrying is not.
Eliminate open carry, if you want to carry in public have a concealed carry license
I'm sure I'll be called a libtard for that take though.

quote:You understand this is on the spectrum of the left's arguments, right? They can just say "he stockpiles weapons like a mass murderer" in response to gun guys buying a lot of guns and ammo. Don't kid yourself into believing your stance is actually different than the left's just because your standard is this public display and there's is inside your home. It's a difference of degree, not principle.
It’s guys like this that make it impossible to differentiate between law abiding people and mass murderers. He dresses up like a mass murderer and goes into a crowded public place. How are we to know his innermost true desires? Screw that guy.
The only principled stand here is that the kid did NOTHING wrong and was kidnapped.

You can use common sense without taking away rights

Open carry, on the surface, is the most fundamental right to bear arms.
The fact that 99% of people that do it are DBs should be irrelevant.

That really depends on what his motivations were for going to Wal-Mart geared up like he did

We're throwing people in jail now for motivations?
Intent without a crime isn't a crime.

Yeah it's always funny to see self proclaimed conservatives on here promoting thought crime.

You are limiting the type of guns they can carry.

quote:Again, same language as the left. Why does Mr. Smith down the street "need" to buy 50 guns? Has he done something wrong? Well, that depends on his motivations for buying 50 guns. The natural endpoint of this logic is that the right is abridgeable based purely on the judgment of what is going on inside someone else's head.

Well motivations plus actions.

Which, in turn, eliminates essentially any long gun from being carried in public.
Like I said earlier, if they ban open carry, it will be no skin off my back in a practical sense, but from a principled standpoint, you're going to have a problem.

Who says there wasn't a crime?
No one has come forward and said there was yet. I think that's been the general gist of this thread. At this time, the only crime we see being committed is kidnapping.
