If you don't notice a necktie being removed you got problems.

This is where I can see the issue... Someone asking me about pockets on my clothes would register as an obvious distraction. No one is fascinated by the amount of pockets on a suit, that being said, no one would ever steal a tie unless it's part of a show.

EtA. My real life example of pick pocket did none of these things. He just waited till the doors of the L in Chicago were closing and busted out the door knocking two people over snatching my wallet in the process More of the caveman approach vs the video's stealth approach. At least the stealth approach gives the thief more time. I had everything cancelled in 10/15 min. Oddly enough the guy was trying to buy more L tokens/passes

I was heading to the airport in Athens Greece on the new train that was built for the olympics and the train was standing room only. As the doors opened at a stop I felt someone's hand on the front of my leg just below my right pocket (I was wearing jeans). I grabbed the hand and yanked a dude out of the crowd and drug him off the train. I proceeded to ask him what the frick he was doing and of course he pretends like he has no idea what I was talking about. The police come up and I have his arm twisted up behind his back and about to go through his pockets when they grab him, handcuff him and ask whats going on...I explain and they ask me if I am missing anything. Sure as hell my wallet, which was in my left front pocket, is gone. I had nothing in my back pockets because I knew better. They searched this a-hole and he had nothing on him so I assumed he had tossed my wallet when I grabbed him. The cops assured me that this wasn't the case, that the people he worked with had him do what he did so I would do what I did and allow them to do what they did, reach in my other pocket while I was distracted and steal my shite. Unfortunately for them all the wallet had in it were some hotel room keys and some meaningless business cards...everything of importance I had on my I had in a neck wallet because pick pocketing Greece is ramapant. The cops also told me that outcome was the best I could have hoped for..the worse case would have been my not being distracted and actually grabbing the fricker who was actually stealing my wallet...because there were most likely several of them and when I grabbed him the rest would have intervened not matter how many people were around. I never knew they had gotten my wallet I was so focused on keeping the other fricker from getting away. They are good at what they do...

I’ve seen good pickpocket videos. This one was obviously staged. If someone touched me just once I would be in high alert, twice and I would say something to them. The amount of touching that he did to the guy with the tie amounts to sexual assault these days.

Yeah, every one of those reactions from people came off as completely fake, not even remotely genuine. But it's still kinda cool to see some of the moves.

Some of them are just too unbelievable to me though. Especially the tie one. I get that it makes for a good show in front of an audience. But how can you not even half notice something like that?
