They used to tell us they'd wash our mouth out with soap if we said a bad word. I never knew they actually did it. They actually did it. Got shut down in the 90s

Also when we had to line up we always went wa-wa-wa like Indians until they screamed at us. And they'd blare Lorrie Morgan or Pam Tillis during "naptime". Bout all I got.
Eta: oh and ruler spankings on the hand. That went from preschool to about 2nd grade

Mrs Joan watched me. Me and her son got into some shite. And when we did we got our asses beat. We once opened their huge propane tank. #80s4Life

My daycare was an actual business, not just a local lady, so I had that going for me. But we didn't learn shite. Don't eat the crayons. If you disobey an adult, you get your arse whipped in front of everyone, it was rare for kids to get in trouble because fear works. Time Out wasnt invented yet. Everyone smoked. Right there in the room where there's children. If you had asthma, frick you, good luck in life kid. The playground was unfit for even terrorist training. Got eaten alve by fireants? Watch out for fireants kid. Got stung by a bee? Stop bothering the bees kid. And if you don't stop crying about it, you are going to get your arse whipped. If you get off your cot during nap time, arse whipped.
bullshite. All of it.

Wrong, frickchop.
Don't you have a Panduit jack to crimp down with channel locks?

Tell me why kids at the age of 3 NEED to learn that stuff? We teach them at home and that's enough. Our kids know the alphabet and all of the sounds from us. The daycare is still on "E" or something. The "lessons" they teach are terrible. They need to be focusing on supplemental teaching from the home with social behavior issues.
they aren't being tested on it. They are simply being exposed to the material and classroom type environment. They are also being taught how to focus on an academic task. The idea is the kid won't become the unfocused little shite in grade school that the parents will then claim has ADHD.

They are learning foreign languages and sign language for frick's sake.
Oh Dear God!!
I took two years of a foreign language in school, and guess what? I've used Google translate 100x more than I ever did that wasted two years of study!
And sign language? WTF for? Is it a day care for the deaf? It's just a bunch of feel good shite that they use to justify charging you 10x what they did in the 80's.
At my day care back in the 80's we learned cursive writing and keyboarding on an actual typewriter. And my parents were impressed. Hmmmmm. Needless to say …

My daycare bill used to be more than my mortgage.

I actually agree. I can’t imagine why it’ll matter if my kid reads at 3 or 4 or 5. That’s what school is for.

What does genX of the OT have to add?
Very few kids died in daycare's back then also.
But I genuinely attribute that to the parents for properly preparing their little bastards for the rigors of daycare by whipping their asses daily prior to enrollment.

Don't forget the partially rusted parts on the edges that would tear a seam up your leg and require a trip to the emergency room and a tetanus shot.
Then your parents wouldn't sue and they wouldn't fix it.

Forget it. You're not worth it.

We moved and now my son goes to a different daycare than my daughter did. The new school does so much more actual learning. My daughter struggled a bit when she started actual school. I think this will help my son when it comes time.

I thought we were friends. I was just making fun.

The Internet. Hard to judge intent. I thought that we got along fine as well. I'm probably just testy today.
