They do play alot, but they learn a shite ton. They are learning foreign languages and sign language for frick's sake. The are already intoducing adding and subtracting at the age of three.
All completely unnecessary at that age. Mine are getting enough education at home. I just want them to learn to be social, not misbehave, and generally be in an "80s" style daycare. They'll learn all that stuff in kindergarten. I feel like all that I teach them in basic fundamentals (potty training, manners, socializing) goes out the window there as all they care about is the lesson.

Today’s daycare:
$1000/month because Mom and Dad have to both work to afford a decent house in a non-shithole school zone.
80’s daycare:
Staying at home with Mom because Dad’s assistant manager job at Dillard’s was enough to support a family.

I just remember that the whole “staff” would watch Days of our Lives during nap time. The only good part I remember was getting an orange push pop from Tigerland Market after, the daycare was right behind it on Jennifer Jean.

Day Care was like Lord of the Flies back in the day. You either found a way to survive, or you came out living the rest of your life in the fetal position.

80s Daycare was the best. Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters toys.

80's daycare had busted lincoln logs and mixed up half-eaton crayons. There were no ninja turtle toys. You must be thinking of early 90's daycare.

My daycare was run by the Hells Angels and they chained us to the floor and forced us to make meth but it was the 80s so whatev

"Completely unnecessary" is a hell of a phrase.

That was dead on. Like it was yesterday

The playground was unfit for even terrorist training.
I almost died at our local playground as a four year old. A 12 foot slide surrounded by concrete was the culprit. It was early in the day and the slide was slick from an early morning rain. One hell of a slip and fall later...and I was hospitalized for 3 months.
One more thing, frick fire ants!

Mom and Dad both work because they refuse to live in a one bedroom apartment, and drive 10 year old cars, or whatever it takes for their kid to be able to stay at home with mom.

I lived this, we rented a 2 bedroom 1100 SQft house, and had a 1975 Datsun 510 with no AC, and 1971 GMC truck so we could live on my salary, allowing our kids to be home with mom. Probably only about half of new parents at that time still had that mindset, the others were already rationalizing that daycare was actually better for their kids, while they moved into their new 4br 2ba ranch next to the Joneses

The Day Care we used in the 80’s always got around to seeing about the kids after their cigarette break.

I remember having pissing contests to see who could send their stream farther than the end of the urinal trough. That must've been a joy to clean up.
The cafeteria lady would make us eat canned chopped beats on odd days for lunch. That's it. So gross.
On video day I managed to convince a teacher to rent Lone Wolf McQuade from the Winn-Dixie. VHS in it early years. They whole 4th grade aged class watched it from start to finish. No issues. No parents complaining. Imagine that happening today.
We beat the crap out of a kid for bringing his Teddy Ruxpin. Tore it's arm off. Years later that kid went to juvie for making small firecracker IED's and placing them on jogging paths. He would lie in wait and time the next jogger running up and light it from a distance. Claimed he was a devil worshiper also. Dressed all black everyday. We may have set him on that path.
It was like Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome at Kindercare.

Tell me why kids at the age of 3 NEED to learn that stuff? We teach them at home and that's enough. Our kids know the alphabet and all of the sounds from us. The daycare is still on "E" or something. The "lessons" they teach are terrible. They need to be focusing on supplemental teaching from the home with social behavior issues.

My girlfriend and I were doing boofs with juice box straws behind the jungle gym when you useless millennials were a twinkle in your papa’s eyes. I was finger fricking the carpool lady before I could read, champ.
