October 24, 1946.
V-2 No. 13 lifted off from the White Sands Missile Range with a 35 mm black-and-white motion picture camera attached. It reached a maximum altitude of 65 miles and snapped this photograph:

We didn’t land on the moon.

That can't be.
This photo shows a slight curvature on the horizon.

We didn’t. But NASA did - six times.

Had AH been a little smarter Germany would have had ICBMs. America's space program largely possible due to German engineering, such as the V2

Fun fact: only reason outer space exists is because it was afraid to be on the same planet as Chuck Norris.

Not sure you know what "outer space" is.

That photograph looks stupid.

This year odds me out for some reason. Seems crazy how 3 of the last 5 POTUS', and still living, were born in 1946.

Looks flat to me.

I'm not sure you know what outer space is. Science has long regarded outer space as starting at the Kármán line, located 100 kilometers (62 miles) above Earth's mean sea level. So this photograph, taken 65 miles (102 kilometers) above the earth, was officially taken from the region we call "outer space."

At its height, there were over 400,000 scientists and engineers working on Apollo. Of those, only about 100 were German ex-pats and may of them had to hammered into submission on items like multi-stage rockets vs single stage, this included WvB himself. Almost all of the big problems were solved by someone other than the Paperclip Germans.
von Braun was the smiling face of the program thanks to charisma and leadership skills, but he drew far to much credit for the other German rocket scientists in the process.

Most of what the Germans knew they learned from Robert Goddard. Werner Von Braun admitted that Goddard had it all figured out and saved them years of work. The US Government even settled with his estate for patent infringement over the v2.

Wernher von Braun
Not withstanding he was a member of the Nazi party but that’s how he got funding to build rockets. A genius. Thankfully he surrendered to the Americans.
