Always nice to see the token concern of people re: suicide rates and 'compassion' for workers. Reality is most of you people making the 'but the economy' argument only give a shite about yourselves because you probably oppose other pro-worker policies like raising the minimum wage, universal paid sick leave, etc.

Dumb arse take.

The economy depends on everyone and jobs being cut hurts everyone in the long run.

He probably figures a guy who lives in Alaska and has 200,000 posts on a message forum has nothing better to do so... fire away.

Seems like an accurate take since you didn't deny it. In fact, you just reinforced it by referring to the economy in the aggregate. Spare us your fake compassion and just speak plainly.

You're right. This is new. We could all be high risk. Who knows who is carrying it. I'd rather listen to medical experts than some dip on OT who wants to jeopardize everyone. Selfish Prix. Plus, I'm not arrogant enough to decide who to sacrifice so I can get my Taco Bell.

Ergo why I said Depression numbers would be nothing compared to if it happened today.

The largest increase in the overall suicide rate occurred in the Great Depression of 1929-1933, surging from 18 per 100,000 people in 1928 to 22.1 per 100,000, an all-time high, in 1932, the last full year of the Great Depression. That four-year period witnessed a record increase of 22.8% compared to any other four-year period in U.S. history.

I have no idea where this false dichotomy of "the economy or pawpaw's life" comes from. How do y'all not understand that just chugging along as if there's no pandemic would lead to a crash as well? If there's one thing the market likes, it's widespread death and an overwhelmed medical system, right?

Oh, you're one of those guys who took an Econ 101 course and thinks the real world works that way.
Keep it up, you're pure gold comic relief.
