Not at all. The strains of flu included in the vaccine change every year. If this is a "flu-like" virus then they are starting from the same point as every other annual flu vaccine.
To be clear I am not exactly rushing out to get one and think the whole thing is overblown. But I think the hysteria around a vaccine is also overblown.

We haven't seen a pandemic of this magnitude coupled with this level of biotechnology previously. You can't really say what's rushed when you don't have an appropriate point of reference.
Biotechnology has never been more advanced than it is at this very moment so who are people on FB to say what they can do safely?

No, but the post to which I replied was anecdotal anyway. Antivaxxers in the US are almost exclusively white and distrust the government - that group leans Republican quite a bit.

To be fair, I try to keep my antivaxxer acquaintances incredibly limited.
However, in the poll in the OP, 45% of liberals say the get one right away compared with just 20% of Republicans. Trying to find more information on who said they would never get one.

You can't compare reactions to a possible vaccine for a virus that most people see doesn't affect them to the main antivaxxer movement based on the idea that vaccines cause autism.

1. I typically avoid pharmaceuticals if I can
2. Do you really want to take something that was made last week
3. Sometimes fricking is also deception (see quote below and Viox)

I have studied FDA drug procedure probably more than the average person, and the length it takes for something to get approved usually has less to do with efficacy and safety and more to do with red tape.
Also, companies are Not required to report all testing to the FDA and it’s common for companies to either flood a testing pool to water down side effect results or just rested till they get what they want.
Anyway, long story short: you’re not any better off with a drug that took a long time. See vioxx.
