They love to talk about gun control, but weak sentencing is the main culprit. This guy won't serve much time, and it was likely not his first arrest.
If they would lock these guys away the first time, these problems would decrease. But they have people getting arrested on their 9th and 10th gun offenses with little or no time served.

The numbers are down this year but... considering the previous number was in the 50’s it doesn’t mean much. No one wants to acknowledge that Chicago had a higher violent crime rate than Baghdad at the height of the war. Think about that.

The shooting{s} are NOT the result of black on black gang disputes ! They are the result of blatant lack of PARENTAL CONTROL ! Brought on and exacerbated by our institutionalized $ for babies/welfare system and the erosion and near total collapse of the black family....only black culcha can repair/fix this out of control downward spiral....money/b.s. give away programs/BLM etc. can and will NOT solve it ! Black "leaders" must be found,black families and the MEDIA need to acknowledge the real issue...VERBALZE it, ADDRESS it directly !!!!!!

Money won't fix it, programs won't fix it, if the home won't fix it.
Until the home can lead the adolescent down the correct path, instead of slightly older failed "friends," there's little hope for these. And it will continue.

Reading stories like this make my blood boil. Every year, there are probably hundreds ( probably hyperbole, I don't have any stats on me) of completely innocent bystanders killed because of gunfire by absolute degenerates.
This lil girl didn't deserve this. I pray she pulls through and make a full recovery. Idk her family situation, but I hope her family does whatever possible to move into another safer area where this type of stuff is a lot less likely to happen.

Between 1976 and 1983, encompassing the terms of two different mayors, it appears Chicago averaged over 800 homicides a year. Over the past eight years, under Rahm Emanueal, they have averaged 566 homicides a year. Just the numbers, no commentary.

It is. I'm just not getting into the shite slinging debate of it. Those are the numbers, and they appear to have followed the trend nation-wide. They still aren't great, but the rate could be and has been much higher.
The bigger, more concerning stat is the CPD's clearance rate. It is abysmal and a very complicated issue.
