68 days in Dealership Service Department

WWYD: I got a truck with a bad sunroof. When I bought it I was guaranteed on the “we owe” document they would fix the inoperable sunroof as part of the sale of the truck, within 30 days. After multiple repair attempts the sunroof “works” - opens/closes. But constantly leaks water ever since then beginning repair work. I’m now 168 days into owning this truck and it’s been in service dept for 68 days.
Do I have any recourse? They have kept me in a rental or loaner the entire time it’s in service but now I have a truck that’s been water damaged and potentially future electrical issues - water came thru roof switches. It’s still in service with no end in sight of parts being ordered or an estimated repair by date.
The dealer has lots in BR, Nola, and Slidell.

Get a lawyer, and threaten to sue. Should have it back within a week.

TBH, you could probably “trade-out” of it for whatever you paid for it, maybe more.

Good luck. Robinson Bros Ford had my 2020 F150 for over 100 days. Eventually replaced transmission that was under warranty. Cost me $6500 in rental from Enterprise. For the full 100 plus days they never had a loaner available for me. bullshite. They would rather provide a loaner to 20 people who they can service faster than trying to figure out a transmission issue and giving a customer a loaner for 100 days. No brainer.

I don’t know this applies to the lemon law but i do know that if a vehicle stays in the service department for a certain number of days within a year, the delete ship has to take it back legally.
Now, the sunroof may not apply to this but there might be some actual recourse you have

Sounds like an F150. I don't use my sunroof because I know it is suspect to break.

Tried the trade in route…honestly because interest rates are higher now than 5-6 months ago and lack of inventory I’d be at a loss. I tried to make a trade with them but 100% true story the sunroof on that one didn’t work on the test drive.

Lemon law only applies to New vehicles not preowned from what I have read.

Screw the lemon law. The dealership wants you to threaten them and they will be happy to buy your vehicle back because they know they can sell it for more. Supply is too low for them to give a shite right now.

How would a lack of inventory hurt you on a trade in?
