Try walking down the highway of the reddest parish in Louisiana carrying a shotgun -- all completely legal (at least it is in Texas) -- and watch how fast one of your buddy-buddy flag-waving "first responders" detain you at gunpoint and treat you like a criminal.

You're not wrong.

A Hammond cop years ago told me while legal to open carry they will stop and question at the least. The city of Gonzales had to settle with an old man who they arrested for open carrying.

I don't have faith in the posturing by Leo's over gun sanctuary and/or won't enforce a red flag law.

Some people treat this as some sort of crime against their liberty.

Usually while being stop and frisk supporters.

Stop and frisk is nothing but a way of trampling on civil rights under the guise of safety. You will get no argument from me on that. It's a pretext to search for marijuana, etc.

The pretext for detention for open carry in Texas is "disturbing the peace."

Otherwise conservative cops are salivating at the thought of red flag laws.

But back to the topic, 60 Minutes fails to address the fact that red flag laws will be used to disarm minorities. They are the low-hanging fruit (no pun intended).

My only real problem with the report was continually using reports saying they’ve prevented x amount of gun related incidents.. these completely subjectable reports with little true data have no business being used to push agendas. But that’s what they do

they should only report on news

They stopped doing that a long, long time ago, in a country far, far away.

Major networks are agenda driven and opinion driven these days. No more factual reporting, only narratives. I always find it bizarre that a certain turn of phrase will be repeated by every news outlet, buy multiple talking heads. The best was "Gravitas" in my opinion, but there are multiple examples weekly. It is like they all get the same talking points from some central entity.

Police who say they won't enforce red-flag laws are simply lying.

I’m not so sure about that, many parish and county sheriffs have all come out and said they won’t enforce.

In 1985, the Los Angeles Times surveyed 3,000 journalists on gun-control. 78% supported imcreased regulations on firearms. It's probably above 90% now. John Lott's book on the media bias against guns is an excellent read, proves that the media, private orgs, and governments work together very closely to push the anti-gun agenda.

This is why I stopped watching 60 Minutes a couple decades ago. Not worth wasting my time on them.

This is my favorite propaganda piece. I think it was CBS. To prove a "good guy with a gun" was ineffective against a school shooter, they ran an "experiment."

In a classroom setting, they gave a prop gun to a "student" and put him in the front row with a huge baggy shirt on. His job was to disable a shooter during an incident. During the "class," a shooter entered the room and the "good guy with a gun" was killed.

Oh yeah... the shooter was informed of the "good guy with the gun" prior to entry and ran straight at him first, shooting him before he could draw his weapon from under the XXXXL t-shirt.

"Case closed, 'good guy with a gun' can't help." -- MSM

Am I the only to notice that as they spoke of the people against the Red flag laws they would randomly show a Confederate Solider statue?
