Reading Ed Snowden's book, the capabilities the intelligence gathering community (CIA, NSA, etc) have is mind blowing. They can literally spy on anyone with ease to the point it is easy to ask "do we really live in a true democracy?"

Anyway, I was just reading this article about 5G.
LINK

And this is listed as one way it will improve how we do things.

quote:

Video surveillance and analytics
5G's low latency and high capacity will help create smarter spaces through enhanced video surveillance and analytics. Wireless cameras mounted on drones or in hard-to-reach places will improve safety and security while providing footage that can improve decision-making in nearly any industry.

The "improve security" part got me thinking. By improving security, that means they will have even better capabilities to do infringe on us without us even knowing.

In the book, Snowden mentions how 9/11 has been used to create fear within the US population in order to gain acceptability through the US population (or manipulate public opinion).

Anyway, as the title says, the fact that 5G will make surveillance even easier, does that concern you?

Privacy is a thing of the past

No need to worry over something that will never be reversed

You can live in a democracy that spies on you. It probably just means that most people are either ok with or don't care about the spying.

Meh. I'm a pretty disgusting person. If someone wants to snoop in and watch me beat my little meat in shame, that's on them.

But you don't think its a concern that if it gets in the wrong hands it could have a much bigger negative impact on us (us being government all the way down to individuals).

The patriot act is responsible for the improvement in handheld technology.

Prove me wrong.

For the tinfoil hat wearers.

Do what Snowden does.

Remove the mic and camera. Only use headphone jack when actually communicating.

You don't need to have 5G for someone to hack into your devices.

Not if it makes identifying the Halloween candy stealers easier.

They need to figure this out before I get worried

If we are legitimately concerned about privacy and "big brother" why don't we start with the active listening devices that people bring into their homes and connect them to the web.

All so we can play "Me So Horny" by 2 Live Crew without typing on a keyboard.

When you say it like that, it makes us sound like a bunch of dumbasses.
